Tamil eZINES Index Records
Notes At least some of you might have thought this site to be dead. No. However, I have not been up to speed, and have not kept up my commitments. In this update I have tried to get back to speed. There is a catch on this update: www.anantham.com I am also including the www.webtamilan.com which has many essays and articles. I have not posted anything new on the Tamil blog related to the TEI. I have planned to update the related Tamil blog 10, 20, 30 of each month.
Notes The Arrival of INFITT's E Journal is a very good news : ) Another E Zine www.amudam.com is gone : ( Also, note that I update more times than I care to record it : ) For more discussion about Tamil e magZines, see my blog : )
Notes Visit my Tamil Zines Blog for more information. The www.thannambikkai.com was no longer available on the Internet as of April/2004.
Notes I am actively keeping a Tamil Web Blog about Tamil magZines. I intend to continue much of discussions and notes in the web log. If I have time I will transfer this to a blog as well.
Notes For those who want to purchase Tamil Magazines, there is an online store at: www.tamilcinema/books/tmagazi/tmagazi.html In my view, Tamilbloggers web pages are more interesting and punctually updated than many Tamil "ezines". Shoud I include the notable Tamilbloggers into the Tamil Ezines Index (TEI)? No, because TEI is the proper index for that; besides there are other complete directories available. About online newspapers, and their weekend specials. As far as I am concerned, I am not interested in the NEWS, but if their weekend editions are significantly unique then I will include then in the TEI, but so far none qualified.
Notes After the arrival of the "bloggers", the Ezines definition has been shaken. How do we set a quality Ezine from a random musing. You can not. There will be quality bloggers, and conversely poor Ezines. Notable bloggers should be listed! Should I include Tamil news links in the index? No and Yes. They do contain features and weekly editions. But, they should be excluded because they are primarily news. There are enough people indexing the news sites. I don't have to do it. What about listing Ezines that are no longer up dated. Yes. Should be listed as "un listed", but should NOT be counted as Active Ezines. They are good reference sites for those who seek to build Ezines. Should I include newsletters? If they are in Tamil-maybe, but I have not come across them. An HTML file that is easily copied and just with bare links should be made, so that those who want to include these links with their web pages can easily do so.
Notes The Tamil Ezine Index should include some note about the FONT type the Ezine uses to assist user to adjust their setting. I have decided that each category must consist of minimum of TWO Ezine and maximum of SEVEN Ezines with few exceptions. Why are there no categories such as Health, Science, Technology, Sports, and Philosophy? Simply because, there do not exist such Ezines in Tamil or I have not come across them. I have to find a simple way for visitor to suggest a site they know? Yes, I have found a simple way. I just put a link to my contact active server page.
Notes A new category, the "Religion" was added to the Index. Another possible category "Past E-zines" is to be created for E-zines that are no longer updated, but still on line. Moreover, a serious dilemma exist as to whether to count publications that come from the same corporation or company to be one entry or multiple entries.
