Electromagnetic energy-The spirit of modern ageWhat is electromagnetic energy?Electromagnetic energy is a form of energy. Electromagnetic waves travelling almost at light speed transmit the energy from the source to the devices, where the energy is converted to other forms of energy such as light, heat, mechanical motion, or chemical energy. Electromagnetic field is a combination of electric field, and magnetic field. Is electromagnetic field a separate phenomenon or just a convenient expression of electric field and magnetic field combined? (As so far as I know) Electromagnetic field is a separate field, which is due to and described in terms of electric field and magnetic field. Electromagnetic field guides the transmission of electromagnetic waves, which carry energy. Does the electromagnetic energy travel in the wire? No. Electromagnetic energy is transmitted as an electromagnetic wave. The energy is transmitted along or guided by the wire, but not through or within the wire. Consider water wave, the wave and the thing that get transmitted are two different things. What is the thing that get transmitted, physically? You are asking, what is energy? Energy is a photon or a string! What is the wave, (analogues to water) which transmits energy, physically made up of? There are two type of waves: mechanical and electro magnetic. Mechanical wave require a medium to be transmitted, while electro magnetic waves (according to the theory) does not require a medium to be transmitted. Can an electromagnetic energy field exist with out transmitting energy, in a similar way that electric field can exist? How is the energy required to move the charges, and energy delivered to the load related? Current does not carry energy. How does the energy travel to the resistor, or to a light bulb, or to an appliance where it is converted to other forms such as heat or mechanical energy? What is electromagnetic energy, physically? Electric field stores energy. Agree. That energy can be directed by the current flow in a circuit. O.k. What is DC current? There is a continuous flow of charges or current directing the EM energy waves. What is AC current? The charges move up down in a wave. "in AC circuits electrons don't flow at all, instead they wiggle." "Flow of energy is called "electric power" or energy current" What if greater energy is injected by the source, than removed by the load? Is such an arrangement possible? Where will the extra energy will go? |
